Type: Latvian Council of Science Fundamental and Applied Research project
Project duration: 01.01.2024.-31.12.2026.
Project Leader: Dr.habil.phys. Eugene Kotomin, Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia
Total funding: 300 000 EUR
Project aim:
The goal of our project – analysis and development of the new efficient materials (phosphors) for the lighting and thermometric applications – will greatly contribute to further development of a new technology via reduction of production and exploitation costs which is multi-million EUR business.
Project description:
Development of novel phosphor materials (PM) with improved efficiency for lighting and optical thermometry, using combination of theoretical and experimental approaches.
Development of a new model (based on the relation between the electronic, optical and structural properties of advanced PM to their structural characteristics) to predict perspective new PM and identify further directions for their developments.
Investigation of the properties of PM solid solutions with an aim of finding optimum concentration of those impurities, which enhance the optical properties of PM in the spectral range of industrial interest.
Studies of the influence of impurity transition metal ions on the PM electronic and optical properties.
An extensive and comprehensive searchable database creation on the physical properties of the PM.
