ERAF Project No. 2010/0252/2DP/2.1.1.1.0/10/APIA/VIAA/009
Project leader Dr.hab.phys. Ivars Tale
Project duration: 2010 - 2013
Motivation and aims of the project is focussed on development an alternative approach in design of new organic and inorganic material solar cell structures and cascade type Si- based-organic/ inorganic cells. The second key tasks under inveatigation are methods and techology for deposition of the solar cell thin film structure on a light transparent organic polymer substrate.
Two specific aims of project focussed by investigations for development microctrystalline Si-solar cell using crystallization of amorphous Si by laser beam as well as for development solar cell on basis of nanocrystalline PbS, photosensitive in green-blue spectral region. The magnetron sputtering and PECVD techniques are available for deposition of amorphous Si, the used pulsed YAG laser second harmonics at 532 nm, pulse duation 6ns and energy 0.92 mJ are suitable for the Si crystallization. The PbS deposition tehnology is found suitable for layer production at room temperature.
Two specific aims of project is focussed on development of two layer new small molecule indandion group DMABI hromophore thin film (OP) solar cells and alternative P3HT type polymer solar cells with layer structure ITO/PEDOT:PSS/hromophore/hromophore/BaF/Al. Main tasks investigated are photo-dissociation effectivity, spectral absorption, optimization of the layer thickness and radiation energy conversion effectivity.
The aim of cascade tandem solar cell is focussed on comparative investigation of mutual prospective characteristics of Si-based/OP and Si-based/PbS tandem solar cells, having close sun radiation absorption spectra.
As a prior criteria between alternative solutions the project results shows in potentality to get an unitied tehnology solutions for solar cell production on flexible polymer film at accordingly low temperatures.
