BASIC OPERATIONAL PRINCIPLES OF OPTICAL FREQUENCY COMBS

Elza Liniņa (ISSP UL Laboratory of Organic Materials) speaks at scientific workshop of ISSP UL Doctoral School “Functional Materials and Nanotechnologies” on March 1, at 13:00, ISSP UL, Ķengaraga street 8, 2nd floor hall.

Optical frequency combs are one of the most accurate measuring instruments available today in high-resolution spectroscopy, allowing absolute frequency measurements over a wide range. The development of optical frequency combs is relatively recent - the first prototype was offered in the late 1990s and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2005 - but now optical frequency combs are commercially available. The aim of the seminar is to introduce students and other interested parties to the basic principles of optical frequency comb operation and possible applications in research.
