Ainārs Knoks and Pēteris Lesničenoks, researchers from Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia, Laboratory of Materials for Energy Harvesting and Storage, presented collaboration within AliCE-WHy project as well as showed how recycling aluminium for production of hydrogen is beneficial, to the EEA Grants donor country representatives, Brussels management and other interested parties revealing mutual benefits and future prospects that the program has enabled.

The aim of AliCE -WHy is to create a technological solution for the recycling of aluminium waste, increasing the efficiency of recycling, the end result of hydrogen for energy use and the production of further low-emission alumina products.

The EEA Grants are funded jointly by all three Donor States – Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.  During the 2014-2021 funding period, the EEA Grants amount to €1.5 billion EUR. The objective of the EEA and Norway Grants is to reduce social and economic disparities and strengthen bilateral relations between the Donor States and the Beneficiary States – Bulgaria, Croatia Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia.
