On April 15, the Latvian Physics Festival will take place throughout the day in Riga, on the “Hanza platform”. The event will have a wide free program – visitors will be able to learn at cognitive stops suitable for different ages and participate in experiments, test their knowledge and win prizes in contests, enjoy the concert of the “Carnival Youth” group, as well as follow the semi-finalists and finalists of the school erudition competition “FIZMIX Experiments”. The goal of the organizers of the festival and competition is to draw attention to the education of exact subjects in Latvia, the organizers of the event inform.
The 28th school erudition competition “FIZMIX Experiment” will end with the Latvian Physics Festival. For several months, 8th and 9th grade young people from Latvian schools completed tasks prepared by experts about future energy and fought for entry into the semi-finals of the competition. 60 of Latvia’s most erudite teams will take part in it – 10 from each region of Latvia and the city of Riga. In the semi-finals, six finalist teams will be determined, who will compete for the main prize – a joint team trip to the “Copernicus Science Center” in Warsaw, Poland. The 2nd place winners will go to the Estonian “PROTO Discovery Center”, while the other finalists will have the opportunity to visit the Riga Technical University curiosity center “Futurimo Rīga”.
Our institute is one of the partners of the competition, but Maria Dunce, a leading researcher at the Segnetoelectric Materials Laboratory, is an expert in nature-friendly physics and research.
