This year, 109 Latvian companies and organisations with 129 projects have won calls for proposals in the European Union’s research and innovation programme Horizon Europe, with a total funding of 31.44 million euros. Higher education institutions have attracted 11.1 million euros in co-funding for 36 projects, research institutions have won 11.4 million euro for 37 projects and the private sector has received 4.3 million euros for 25 projects.
Many Latvian companies and research organisations have had good success in Horizon Europe projects. For example, the University of Latvia has raised 4.27 million euros for 14 projects, while the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science has received 2.35 million euros for seven projects, the Institute of Solid State Physics has obtained 3.1 million euros for three projects, and the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis has been granted 2.57 million euros for four projects. Tilde has also attracted 408 thousand euros, while SPH Engineering has received 357 thousand euros, Sidrabe Vacuum – 320 thousand euros, Lightspace Technologies – 220 thousand euros, and Latvijas Mobilais telefons – 206 thousand euros.
