On January 19, the Senate of the Latvian Academy of Sciences (LAS) approved the decisions of the prize expert commissions and granted six LAS name awards, including three name awards for young scientists, and five young scientists’ awards.

Among the winners of the prizes is the scientist of our institute Edgars Butanovs, who was awarded the Ludvigs and Māris Jansons prizes in physics for the work “Synthesis and properties of transition metal dichalcogenide based core-shell nanowires”. Supervisor Dr.phys. B. Polakov.
