For the first time in Latvia, a national research program "High Energy Physics and Accelerator Technologies" has been launched to strengthen the development of the Latvian scientific community in cooperation with the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and to carry out interdisciplinary research in natural sciences and engineering in the field of high-energy physics and accelerator technologies.
This programme has launched the project about studies of top quark and Higgs boson, which aim is to strengthen research capacity in high-energy particle physics and accelerator technologies, as well as the establishment and maintenance of a sustainable scientific community of research strands in Latvia.
During the project, researchers from the Riga Technical University (RTU) High Energy Particle Physics and Accelerator Technology Center in cooperation with researchers from the University of Latvia and our Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP UL) will participate in world-class research activities in CERN scientific laboratories.
