In Līvāni, two high-tech companies – Lightguide and Ceram Optec – produce their products with great success and recognition in the global market.
Lightguide is a Latvian company that develops and manufactures optical fibers, their bundles, as well as cables for light and laser transmission. The company supplies fiber optic products to customers from a variety of industries. Optical fiber is the basis of optical products developed by Lightguide, and depending on the application of the product, one fiber (medical probe) or thousands of fibers (light beam) can be used. The products differ not only in the number of fibers, but also in the degree of complexity determined by the technical requirements of clients, which is also the main driving force for the creation of new technological solutions.
The high-tech plant complies with European Union (EU) quality management standards. From time to time, the company also cooperates with the Institute of Solid State Physics of the University of Latvia, as well as with the Institute of Atomic Physics and Spectroscopy of the University of Latvia.
