The scholarship was created in 2016 thanks to the testimony of Alfred Raisters (1921-2012), American Latvian, PhD in Engineering, patron of the University of Latvia. "This scholarship is considered for prospective scientists who already know what they want to do in their research field, as funding for their intentions, best of all – for an already developed project or research," emphasizes A. Raister's daughter, Silvija Bumanis-Sila. The scholarship is intended for master's and PhD students in the field of exact sciences where one of the important conditions is the student's readiness to stay in Latvia for as long as he or she received support to benefit Latvian society.
