The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) has announced this year's winners of the prestigious EIT Awards. The Awards encourage entrepreneurs and promote innovation made in Europe.

The EIT Awards winners were chosen by an international jury and featured 19 nominees from across Europe, competing in categories recognising excellence in innovation in the fields of climate, energy, digitisation, food, health, and raw materials. The 19 nominees competed in four categories: EIT Change, EIT Innovators, EIT Venture, and EIT Woman. Citizens also were able to have their say by voting for their top innovation to win the EIT Public Award, with online voting.

Nominee from Latvia Kristaps Krafte, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of company Vigo is awarded second place in the EIT Change Award, winning €10 000. The EIT Change Award recognises graduates of EIT education programmes who spur innovation and entrepreneurship, inspiring change for a sustainable future.

Vigo is developing digital therapy for stroke recovery, using evidence-based tools and artificial intelligence. With their solution, Vigo wants to improve access to high quality rehabilitation, to help stroke patients recover faster and more effectively.
