Throughout Europe, September 27 was the Researchers' Night. Thanks to scientists and young researchers from the University of Latvia and its institutes, the University’s House of Nature and House of Science was one of the largest venues for scientific activities in Latvia.

Our Institute's becoming and existing talents welcomed and educated visitors at the House of Science, introducing them to optical fibres, their properties and the effects of liquid nitrogen. Guests of our stand were treated with popcorn made on a hydrogen stove, they were allowed to blow up hydrogen bubbles in their own fingers. The experiments were complemented by explanation on how a fuel cell works, where optical fibres are used and what causes property change of optical fibres, as well as other relevant information to experiments research carried out at the Institute. It was possible to find out more about Europe's largest project - EUROfusion, on the spot debates with the researcher involved.

Thanks to our Institute’s team for the hard work - Ainārs Knoks, Pēteris Lesničenoks, Ingars Lukoševičs, Haralds Ozols, Viesturs Tenis Vīksna, Varis Karitāns, Arturs Cintiņš, Varis Karitāns, Ēriks Vilunas, and especially Linards Skuja and Anatolijs Šarakovskis for the scientific discussions and ideas!
