The Institute of Solid State Physics is organising an international conference “The Second European Workshop on Understanding and Controlling Nano and Mesoscale Friction” on July 4-7, 2016 in Riga within the framework of COST action MP1303.
This scientific network of participants comprises a very broad range of scientists, as the aim is to fill in the gaps between different scales of the friction problem. This problem is centuries old but without a complete solution yet. This network of scientist is extremely valuable for different industry branches from high tech. electronics to novel automotive technologies, from civil engineering to medical applications.
The conference topics include: bridging tribological mechanisms at different scales; tuning nanofriction; confined systems under shear; controlled nano movements.
