The CAMART² project has made significant strides over its eight-year journey, investing over EUR 30 million to enhance the Centre of Excellence in Advanced Material Research and Technology. This initiative has bolstered research infrastructure, developed team expertise, and established partnerships focused on innovation, ultimately improving the commercialization of new materials and technologies.

As the project concludes, we reflect on its impact, particularly regarding industry collaboration. This interview features key contributors to the Materize platform, including Andris Anspoks (ISSP UL director, founder of Materize), Andris Ozoliņš (deputy CAMART2 project manager, founder of Materize), Olga Bogdanova (Materize sales director), and Jānis Latvels (industry collaboration specialist). Launched in 2018, Materize aims to bridge the gap between scientific research and industry, providing tailored services to facilitate effective collaboration.

The interview explores Materize's vision to overcome the disconnect between academia and industry, addressing challenges such as building a knowledgeable sales team and improving communication. Initially focused on specific countries, Materize has shifted to target industry verticals, enhancing regional competitiveness and fostering a robust ecosystem in photonics and smart materials.

Looking ahead, Materize plans to develop unique offerings in microfluidics and photonics, enhance production capabilities, and strengthen industry ties, positioning itself as a model for future initiatives focused on innovation and collaboration.
